Mama Lou’s along the corner street of Tropical Avenue in BF Homes Las Pinas is one of my favorite go-to Italian restaurants. Whenever I crave for home cooked Italian meals, either I would cook spaghetti or if I was up for it I would’ve probably gone to Mama Lous. If you’ve never been there, the place is very quaint and low key. It used to be a place of residence before they turned it into a full blown restaurant. The last time I devoured food there was about 2 years ago. I couldn’t come back because I was pregnant and travel down south is so exhausting because of the heavy traffic (ugh Maynilad!). Now that it has opened a few branches in the North, I’m so happy that I got to taste it again at The 3oth Ayala Mall. It seems they have come out with a few new dishes. I used to order the Mama Lou’s Special Pizza from the menu but today we ordered flavorful dishes that I haven’t tried.
When you enjoy having your dinner and Mona Lisa is looking straight at you, like reminding you of your dining etiquette hehe. A girl who loves to eat, has to eat. hehe.
Rigatoni with ricotta, ground meat, peas, mozzarella and three pasta sauces (!!!) namely Pomodoro, pesto, and alfredo. I can totally forget about spaghetti and have this in my plate! Best shared with friends/family if you don’t want to feel full right away.
Elbow macaroni perfectly blended with cheddar and mozzarella cheese. It was smoking hot when they served it!
If you’re into cream, cheese and chicken, you’ve got to try Chicken Marsala. It’s a breast fillet with mozarella cheese and dolloped cream and caper sauce on top served with mashed potato.
Don’t be fooled by the name. Quattro Formaggi Pizza means Four Cheese! I like it with the Alfalfa sprouts and hot sauce. The crust is thin and deliciously crunchy. So light I could eat 4 or 5 slices. Just keep the sprouts and hot sauce coming.
Munch on a healthier chicharon bulaklak version of Mama Lous, Mushroom Chicharon served with vinegar sauce . I didn’t know if my taste buds were working but I honestly thought they were chicken skins until I saw the menu. It was crunchy.
I thought French fries and gravy are an exclusive thing at fast food stores. Apperently, Poutine means french fries made with cheese curds and hot gravy (that melts the cheese). Mama Lous made it with Bacon!
Grilled New Zealand lamb rack seasoned in Rosemary with mashed potato, some steamed carrots and mint jelly sauce. Sorry, I don’t know what the green was! Not a veggie person hehe.
Oil based pasta in garlic, tomatoes and olive oil blended with Tuyo fillet (salted fish), Pinoy style.
Carpaccio di Manzo is an Italian hors d’oeuvre or an appetizer made of thinly sliced beef fillet, marinated with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Couldn’t stop myself from taking a bite of these two. I actually tried them in the middle of the main course. They definitely won’t dissapoint. Take the Cannoli is made of cocoa marsala shell with Italian marscapone cheese, pistachios and chocolate glaze.
Tiramisu has a hint of espresso and Baileys.
