[mark]Learn to surf! [/mark] (June 2011)

We planned a trip to Urbiztondo, San Juan La Union and stayed at San Juan Surf Resort where the recognized Billabong Surf School is situated. The school was established by Luke Landrigan, a Filipino-Australian celebrity surfing champion and Billabong endorser, (the guy in the Thousand Highlands corned beef commercial with James Younghusband, Jake Cuenca and else). San Juan, La Union is one of the popular surf spot in the North and choosing Billabong Surf School is definitely your best choice because it has an internationally-accredited surf training program especially for beginners like me.

[mark]What I love about the camp[/mark]

1. The booze in the bar. Selection of drinks is delicious and it costs roughly a hundred bucks each.
2. The reggae band who played my request, Melt With You by Jason Mraz and Love Song by 311.
3. The free breakfast that comes with 2 sunny side up eggs, hot coffee and your choice whether its tuyo, tinapang bangus, tapa. etc.
4. The Billabong surf shop!

I was head over heels with this beach and the surf camp. I say I’ll go back and visit LU soon. Visit Billabong Surf School in La Union. Website: http://www.billabongsurfph.com/

[mark]How to get to San Juan, La Union[/mark]

Ride a bus bound for San Fernando La Union City. In our case, we took Genesis bus in Pasay Terminal (there’s also one in Cubao). The last bus stop of Genesis is in San Fernando City but we would get off in the their terminal. From there, take a jeep going to “Bacnotan or San Juan” and inform the driver that you are going to San Juan Surf Resort so he could drop you off.
